It’s also the ability to sustain or focus on visual information for periods of time and be able to shift focus when necessary. This packet aims to work on both micro and macro visual attention. The exercises will challenge your patient’s ability to see images in a mess of overlaying designs. Work on short-term visual memory as they discover the differences between series of images. Enhance their ability to see the minute differences between images. Finally, track a pattern of icons to find which icon constructs which pattern.

This packet is great for kids, students, and individuals with aphasia. You can also use this packet with non-verbal individuals! The abilities to use this packet are endless.

Mental movement is a complex cognitive skill needed to plan things out. It helps with visual-spatial skills and the ability to organize information, make mental-visual comparisons, and overall decisions based upon order or comparison.

In this worksheet, we’re providing you with 4 exercises to use with your clients to practice strategies related to mental movement, whether mentally moving a ball from one hoop to another or remembering where objects are placed. You are using language clues and space markers to solve a sentence. Or even mentally reflecting on a pattern, this packet has all that and more. Your client will be exposed to different task requirements, all sharing the underlying component of mentally moving objects.

This worksheet challenges: working memory, attention, visual-spatial skills, and language.

Included inside: 19 worksheets and bridging questions

The digital exercises that inspired this worksheet

Private Eye

Primarily, this task exercises your client’s sustained attention and concentration skills. Attention is the essence of focus. Your client will need to focus on looking for a specific target and ignore other visual information that could distract them.

Embroidery

Can you scan a space for relevant information? Using visual scanning and verbal memory, look at a matrix of random letters to find a hidden word pertaining to a theme. This can be done timed or untimed.

Hurray for Change

Switching between tasks is a very important skill to have. In the real-world, we switch between tasks when we are conversing with friends and participating in an activity. In this exercise, your client will have to correctly switch between numbers and letters or letters and words in either ascending or descending order. Your client must develop strategies to remember the order in which to sequence the items while remembering which items they have already sequenced and avoiding the accidental mispairing of items.

Writing in the Stars

Like a crossword puzzle, this exercise trains planning, working memory, and organization. Using the subtle clues of how many letters are in a word, what words are available, and what words share common characteristics, clients will be challenged to effectively plan and reason in order to correctly place the words in the correct order. If your client requires multiple attempts to solve the puzzle, you may want to assist them in developing effective planning strategies.
