The digital exercises that inspired this worksheet

An American in Paris

This exercise trains your clients working memory as well as their sequential abilities. Using images of landmarks combined with locations depicted using letters and numbers in a grid system. Practicing strategies to remember not only the image identity but also an images location can translate to everyday situations such as navigating a store or finding one’s location in space using landmarks like on a mall map.

Embroidery

Can you scan a space for relevant information? Using visual scanning and verbal memory, look at a matrix of random letters to find a hidden word pertaining to a theme. This can be done timed or untimed.

The Right Count

Using knowledge of numerical order, clients must correctly sequence the numbers in either ascending or descending order. This exercise requires clients to scan for information, retain details, and use their knowledge of numbers to correctly order them. These skills are important for activities such as handling money and figuring out the best way to get to a destination.

Hurray for Change

Switching between tasks is a very important skill to have. In the real-world, we switch between tasks when we are conversing with friends and participating in an activity. In this exercise, your client will have to correctly switch between numbers and letters or letters and words in either ascending or descending order. Your client must develop strategies to remember the order in which to sequence the items while remembering which items they have already sequenced and avoiding the accidental mispairing of items.
